Former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, has publicly declared his willingness to join any political arrangement aimed at removing President Bola Tinubu from office in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
Speaking during an interview on Arise TV as Nigeria's political landscape heats up ahead of the 2027 polls, Lamido, a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), emphasized his openness to any coalition that could defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
"I am part of any arrangement, no matter its nomenclature, to remove this government of incompetence, insecurity, that is dividing Nigeria firmly between north and south, out of power. I will go into any arrangement for that purpose," Lamido stated.
The former governor's declaration comes shortly after the formation of the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), a new political party created by a coalition of opposition leaders. BenriNews reports that this newly formed coalition is spearheaded by former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and the immediate past governor of Kaduna State, Nasir el-Rufai.
Accusations Against Tinubu's Administration
In his interview, Lamido leveled serious accusations against President Tinubu's government, claiming it has divided Nigeria along ethnic lines. He further alleged that the administration is using state institutions to manipulate, coerce, and control opposition forces.
"I will be part of any arrangement, configuration if it is going to remove this government from power," Lamido reiterated, suggesting that the current government serves the interests of the ruling party rather than those of Nigerian citizens.
The political climate in Nigeria continues to evolve as various opposition figures and parties position themselves for the 2027 electoral contest, with the newly formed ADA potentially representing a significant challenge to the ruling APC's hold on power.
