Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar met with several prominent Nigerian political figures including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and former military Head of State Yakubu Gowon at a high-profile gathering on Saturday.
The meeting took place during the 70th birthday celebration of Adamu Muazu, former Bauchi State governor and ex-National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Other notable attendees included former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai and National leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, among other eminent Nigerians.
Atiku, who served as Vice President from 1999 to 2007, reflected on his working relationship with Muazu during that period. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he highlighted their collaborative efforts in establishing foundations for good governance and private sector-led economic growth in Nigeria.
"Yesterday, I joined my boss, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Head of State Yakubu Gowon, and Vice President Kashim Shettima, along with many other prominent Nigerian leaders, in paying tribute to Alhaji Ahmadu Adamu Muazu, former governor of Bauchi State and one-time National Chairman of the PDP, who turned 70," Atiku wrote.
He added, "As Vice President of Nigeria between 1999 and 2007, I worked with Mu'azu and other governors who served within that period to lay the foundation for good governance and a private sector-led economic growth for Nigeria."
Atiku concluded his message by congratulating Muazu and wishing him "many more years in good health and vitality."
The gathering is particularly noteworthy as it brought together political figures from across different parties and eras in Nigerian leadership, showcasing the personal relationships that often transcend political divides in Nigeria's complex political landscape.
