Kenneth Okonkwo, former spokesperson of the Labour Party's Presidential Campaign Council, has declared that the emerging political coalition led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai will deliver a devastating blow to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television's Sunday Politics, Okonkwo revealed he is part of the coalition that also includes former President Olusegun Obasanjo and other political heavyweights seeking to register a new political party called the All Democratic Alliance (ADA).

"Just know that I am part of the coalition. I can tell you about the engine room of this coalition that many people don't know about. APC will not know what hit them come 2027," Okonkwo stated confidently.

APC Dismisses Coalition Threat

Despite the bold claims from Okonkwo, APC leaders have downplayed the potential impact of the coalition. The Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, has publicly stated that the coalition poses no threat to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's second-term ambitions in 2027.

The formation of the All Democratic Alliance represents a significant realignment in Nigerian politics, bringing together figures who have previously been political rivals. The coalition is currently seeking official registration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Political analysts note that the coalition's formation comes at a time when many Nigerians are expressing dissatisfaction with the current administration's economic policies and security challenges, potentially creating fertile ground for opposition groups ahead of the 2027 elections.
