Renowned social critic and human rights activist, Aisha Yesufu, has made a bold declaration about Nigeria's current state, claiming that there is effectively "no government" in the country as terrorists continue to operate freely.
In a statement posted on her X handle on Monday, Yesufu expressed her frustration with the deteriorating security situation, stating plainly: "There is no government in Nigeria. Terrorists have a field day!"
Rising Insecurity in Benue State
Yesufu's comments follow a disturbing incident in Benue State where a fully loaded commercial bus belonging to Benue Links Transport Company was hijacked by armed assailants. The attack occurred at Eke, along the Otukpo-Otukpa road in Okpokwu Local Government Area.
This latest kidnapping incident is particularly alarming as it comes in the wake of devastating violence in the state, where over 200 people have reportedly been killed by suspected herdsmen in recent attacks.
Yesufu, who rose to prominence during the #EndSARS protests and has remained a vocal critic of government policies, has consistently called for better security measures and governance reforms across Nigeria.
