The Ebonyi State Police Command has launched an intensive manhunt for kidnappers who abducted a middle-aged man, Uduma Idam-Chima, in Amasiri community, Edda Local Government Area of the state.

Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abakaliki, the Command's Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed that the abduction occurred on June 14, 2025.

"Yes, we have deployed our officers to the area; we have started an investigation to uncover the root cause of the abduction," Ukandu stated.

Community Response to the Kidnapping

The kidnapping has sparked significant concern within the community. On Thursday, members of the Oso-Edda Development Town Union took to the streets to protest the abduction and appeal for assistance from security agencies to rescue their kinsman.

Mr. Ama Aba Emeh, President-General of Osa-Edda Town Union, expressed deep concern over the incident and called for lasting solutions to ensure peace in the area.

"This kidnapping has created fear among our people. We are appealing to the police and other security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue our brother and bring the perpetrators to justice," a community member told BenriNews.

Security Measures

The police have assured residents that they are working diligently to track down the kidnappers and rescue the victim. Security has been heightened in the area as investigations continue.

This incident comes amid growing concerns about kidnapping cases in various parts of Nigeria, with security agencies working to curb the menace.
