The Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche, has declined a N30 million donation from Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris, suggesting instead that the funds be channeled to orphanages or other charitable causes.
The incident occurred during a recent large-scale evangelical crusade organized by the church in Kebbi State. At the event, the governor's representative, Commissioner for Social Duties Zayyanu Umar Aliero, announced the substantial cash gift as a token of appreciation for Pastor Enenche's spiritual outreach in the state.
According to reports, the commissioner informed the gathering that the N30 million donation was available in cash and ready for immediate handover to the church.
Pastor's Unexpected Response
In a move that has since garnered widespread acclaim, Pastor Enenche politely but firmly declined the offer on stage. While expressing gratitude for the governor's generosity, he maintained that the church would not accept the money.
"We sincerely appreciate the gesture and the governor's generous heart. But we will not take this money. Please channel it instead to orphanages or any other charitable institution of your choice," Enenche stated.
The governor's representative reportedly accepted the pastor's request graciously, acknowledging his humility and commitment to the gospel.
Public Reaction
The pastor's decision has sparked positive reactions across social media platforms, with many Nigerians commending his integrity and principled stance in refusing government funds during a spiritual gathering.
This incident comes at a time when religious leaders' financial practices and relationships with political figures often face public scrutiny in Nigeria.
Neither the governor's office nor Dunamis International Gospel Centre has issued further statements regarding the matter as of press time.
