The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a stern warning to its members who have been publicly praising Governor Seyi Makinde, threatening to expel them from the party.

In a statement released on Wednesday and signed by APC Publicity Secretary Wasiu Olawale Sadare, the party expressed its displeasure with certain members who have been commending Governor Makinde's administration.

"We will not continue to tolerate those who claim to be APC members while praising the governor," the statement read. The party emphasized that such behavior jeopardizes its efforts to reclaim power in the state during the upcoming 2027 elections.

Party Loyalty Questioned

Sadare described the APC chieftains who have been praising Makinde as "politicians driven by self-interest" and suggested their actions demonstrate poor party discipline.

"But for selfishness and poor orientation borne out of indiscipline and myopia, no reasonable member of the APC would turn himself into a propaganda machinery for the current PDP administration which has mortgaged the future of the unborn generations by wasting enormous resources on frivolities and inanity in the last six years," Sadare stated.

The party spokesperson further revealed that the APC had conducted due diligence and confirmed that some individuals still claiming to be APC chieftains are actually working for the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

Strategic Approach to Dissent

Despite the strong condemnation, Sadare indicated that the party would engage the offending members "as democrats," acknowledging that some observers believe these individuals might have been "misinformed or misrepresented."

"We found the conducts of the culpable personalities highly reprehensible and irresponsible in view of the facts they both laid claims to being chieftains of our great party up till the present moment," he added.

The warning comes as political parties begin positioning themselves for the 2027 general elections, with the APC determined to recapture Oyo State from PDP control.

This development highlights the growing tensions within Oyo's political landscape as parties solidify their ranks ahead of the crucial electoral contest.
