Popular comedian and content creator, Koboko, alongside his team braved heavy rainfall to stage a protest against the recent wave of killings in Benue State.

During the demonstration, Koboko expressed strong criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, stating that the President "has failed Nigerians" due to his perceived inability to protect citizens' lives and properties. The skit maker went further to urge Nigerians to reject President Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 elections.

The protesters carried various placards with messages including "Benue Is Bleeding", "Is Benue Not Part Of Nigeria?", "StopBenueKillings", and "May Tinubu Not Happen To Us In 2027", among others.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday, Koboko shared photos from the protest with a caption that simply read: "Tinubu has failed us."

Context of Benue Crisis

The protest comes amid growing concerns over security challenges in Benue State, with recent incidents being described by some Benue leaders in diaspora as "genocide" rather than reprisal attacks. The situation has attracted attention from various quarters, including other celebrities like musician Iyanya, who recently dedicated a song to victims of the killings.

The security situation in Benue has also affected infrastructure, with reports indicating that flooding has forced the closure of the Makurdi–Abuja road hours before a planned presidential visit to the state.

President Tinubu's planned visit to Benue has been described by some security experts as a "political gesture" rather than a substantive response to the crisis, while government supporters have called for residents to give the President a "rousing welcome."

The protest by Koboko highlights the growing frustration among Nigerians regarding the handling of security challenges in various parts of the country, particularly in Benue State.
