A spokesperson for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has claimed that Nigerians are already joining the emerging opposition coalition aimed at unseating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.

Paul Ibe, Media Adviser to Atiku, stated on Sunday that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is "fidgeting" over the alignment of key opposition figures in the coalition, which he described as a formidable platform capable of removing the current administration.

"They're scared because they know the coalition represents a formidable platform that could remove this administration. Even if some leaders defect to their political party, the reality is that Nigerians are defecting to the coalition. It embodies their aspiration, a platform to end this failed government," Ibe said.

Coalition Gaining Momentum

The media adviser expressed optimism about the coalition's prospects, suggesting that once all details are finalized, public support will surge dramatically.

"Once everything about the coalition is finalised and the dotted lines are signed, Nigerians will eagerly board this train. That will mark their defection, far more overwhelming than what's happening with the APC," he added.

The coalition appears to be part of a broader realignment of political forces ahead of the 2027 general elections, with opposition parties seeking to present a united front against the ruling APC.

While specific details about the coalition's structure, participating parties, and leadership remain unclear, Ibe's comments suggest that formal announcements may be forthcoming as negotiations progress.

The APC has yet to issue an official response to these claims about the coalition's growing influence.
