The National Vice Chairman (North-East) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mustapha Salihu, has dismissed rumours of a rift between President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, describing such speculation as distractions created by "conflict entrepreneurs."

Speaking on Channels Television on Monday evening, Salihu addressed the growing speculation that Vice President Shettima is being sidelined in government affairs, particularly regarding the President's alleged failure to transmit power to him during extended trips abroad.

"The administration of a party is not run on social media, newspapers, or television. It's handled internally," Salihu stated firmly. "These kinds of rumours are inevitable in every administration—people will always try to suggest friction between the principal and the Vice."

Rumours of Political Tension

The speculation has intensified following observations that the Vice President is rarely mentioned during events where President Tinubu receives endorsements for a potential second term. This has fueled rumours that Tinubu might be considering a different running mate for the 2027 elections.

Salihu dismissed these concerns, suggesting they stem from political insecurity. "It's what some insecure politicians thrive on. But if you're secure in yourself, you shouldn't be bothered by such noise," he remarked.

The APC chieftain also refuted claims of discontent within the North-East chapter of the party. "I'm in Yola. I've engaged with members from Taraba, Gombe, Bauchi, and Yobe. We all stayed up the night before the summit brainstorming," he explained, suggesting unity within the regional party structure.

This statement comes amid broader discussions about the Tinubu administration's performance and internal dynamics as it approaches its midterm mark.
