A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu, has criticized President Bola Tinubu for referring to some Nigerians as "busybodies" while defending the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike.
BenriNews reports that President Tinubu, on Tuesday, urged Minister Wike not to be distracted by "busybodies and naysayers" but to focus on his mandate to transform the nation's capital.
In an interview with Channels TV on Wednesday, Momodu expressed concern over the President's comments, suggesting that the current political dynamics indicate a power imbalance in the administration.
"The President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who has held Lagos since 1999 to date, has not been as audacious as Wike," Momodu stated. "In fact, right now, it's looking like we have two Presidents in Nigeria."
The PDP chieftain further expressed his dismay at the President's choice of words: "Yesterday, I listened to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Commander-in-Chief, calling fellow Nigerians busybodies. You are calling Nigerians busybodies all because of Wike."
Momodu's comments highlight growing concerns about the relationship between President Tinubu and Minister Wike, who has been implementing significant reforms in the FCT since his appointment.
The exchange comes amid ongoing debates about governance style and political alliances in the current administration, with critics questioning the apparent special status accorded to the FCT Minister.
