Senator Abba Moro, representing Benue South Senatorial District and serving as Senate Minority Leader, has categorically denied involvement in any political coalition being formed ahead of Nigeria's 2027 general elections.

The senator made this clarification during an interactive meeting with constituents in Otukpo over the weekend, where he presented his six-year scorecard to the public.

"Let me state here unequivocally that I am not in any political coalition and I'm not a member of any political coalition with anyone or group. Those who are in political coalition are there for their reasons," Moro declared to cheering supporters.

PDP-Driven Coalition Only

The senator emphasized that his political allegiance remains firmly with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He explained that he would only consider joining a coalition if it were initiated and led by the PDP itself, rather than by individuals or smaller groups.

"In the recent past, I addressed the press on behalf of and with my colleague PDP Senators where we clearly stated that we were not in the political coalition being propagated by individuals," Moro stated.

He further clarified: "We stated that when necessary we could only hatchet any political coalition that is driven by the Peoples Democratic Party, being the largest of all other political parties not in power, not individuals. This position has not changed."

The statement comes amid increasing political maneuvers and realignments as various political actors begin positioning themselves for Nigeria's 2027 general elections.

During the constituency briefing, Senator Moro also highlighted his achievements over his six years of representation, which were reportedly well-received by his constituents.

As the political landscape continues to evolve ahead of 2027, Senator Moro's stance underscores the importance of party loyalty in Nigeria's political system, particularly within opposition ranks.
