Nigerian rapper and music executive, Jude Abaga, popularly known as MI, has expressed profound grief over the recent wave of killings in Benue State, offering solidarity with affected communities and demanding an end to the persistent violence.

In a heartfelt message shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, MI conveyed his anguish over the situation in the Middle Belt region.

"My heart is heavy. It grieves me deeply to see so much of the Middle Belt bleed. The recent killings in Benue are not just statistics, they are our people, our families, our communities being torn apart," the rapper wrote.

MI further emphasized his solidarity with the people of Benue, stating, "I stand in solidarity with my brothers and sisters in Benue. Your pain is my pain. We can't normalise this cycle of violence that has plagued our land for too long. To those we've lost: we will not forget you. To those still standing, we stand with you."

The artist also called for a transparent investigation into the attacks and advocated for enhanced security presence across vulnerable communities in the region.

Growing Concerns Over Benue Security Situation

MI's statement comes amid increasing concerns from prominent Nigerians regarding the security situation in Benue State. Former Senate President David Mark recently warned that government inaction might force people to defend themselves, suggesting that Nigerians may be compelled to take up arms for self-defense if the killings continue unabated.

Similarly, rapper Falz has criticized President Tinubu's administration for its handling of the crisis, while Ohanaeze Ndigbo has decried the killings and demanded urgent government intervention.

Comedian Sabinus has also joined the growing list of celebrities appealing to the Nigerian government to take decisive action to address the situation in Benue State.

The ongoing violence in Benue has displaced numerous communities and resulted in significant loss of life, prompting calls for more effective security measures and lasting solutions to the crisis.
