Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has opened up about her experience making her acting debut in the upcoming American fantasy film, 'Children of Blood and Bone', revealing that the transition from music to acting presented unique challenges that have deepened her respect for actors.

In a recent interview with CBS, Starr explained how the disciplined environment of filmmaking contrasted with her experiences in the music industry. "It [Children of Blood and Bone] is my first movie ever. You know, I'm used to being a singer and diva on set, but this one with the movie is like, it's not about you. You've to be on set on time," she shared.

The 'Rush' hitmaker emphasized that the experience taught her valuable lessons about punctuality and dedication. "So, it made me get used to military time and working hard. I respect actors so much more now. Their stamina is impeccable," Starr added.

Fulfilling a Long-held Dream

Despite her successful music career, Starr revealed that acting has always been an ambition she wanted to pursue. "Acting is something I have always wanted to do. I love music, but I've always loved acting. I've always been shy when it comes to acting. But this is the first time in my life that I've been on camera and I'm not singing. It was amazing. I learned so much from everyone, not just the greats," she explained.

The film 'Children of Blood and Bone' is an adaptation of Nigerian-American writer Tomi Adeyemi's bestselling novel of the same name. Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, the production features an impressive ensemble cast including Damson Idris, Tosin Cole, Idris Elba, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Cynthia Erivo, Viola Davis, and Thuso Mbedu.

Paramount Pictures has scheduled the film's release for January 15, 2027, giving fans of both the novel and the Nigerian singer something to look forward to.

This acting debut marks another milestone in Starr's expanding career, which has already seen significant achievements in music, including becoming the first Nigerian female singer to hit 1 billion YouTube views and securing nominations at prestigious award ceremonies like the BET Awards.
