A notorious bandit kingpin, Ado Aleru, who has been declared wanted by Nigerian security agencies, has made a surprising public appearance at a peace meeting in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State, triggering widespread concern among residents and security experts.
According to reports, the meeting was organized to address and resolve ongoing conflicts between Fulani herders and farming communities in the region. Despite his status as a wanted criminal, Aleru reportedly addressed stakeholders at the gathering, outlining proposed measures to foster peaceful coexistence in the troubled area.
Aleru has been linked to numerous deadly attacks across Katsina and Zamfara States and had previously gone into hiding as military operations intensified in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara. "How are we sure he's not doing this to buy himself time, evade justice, only to return stronger afterwards? This doesn't make sense at all," said Yahaya Abdulrahman, a concerned resident of the area.
