Former US President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Iran, threatening unprecedented military retaliation if the Islamic Republic targets the United States amid escalating tensions between Iran and Israel.
"The US has nothing to do with the attack on Iran tonight. If we are attacked by any way, shape or form by Iran, the full strength and might of the US Armed Forces will come down on you at levels never seen before," Trump declared on his social media platform.
The statement comes after Israel conducted dozens of airstrikes on Iran on Thursday night, reportedly killing several top Iranian military officials. Iran retaliated by launching hundreds of ballistic missiles toward Israel, resulting in at least three casualties, according to Israeli authorities.
Escalating Middle East Tensions
BenriNews reported that Iranian officials described their missile attack as just the beginning of a "crushing response" to Israeli aggression. The conflict has raised concerns about a wider regional war, with reports suggesting that some jets used in the Israeli strikes were US-manufactured.
Despite his threatening tone, Trump also expressed willingness to mediate peace between the warring nations, stating, "However, we can easily get a deal done between Iran and Israel and end this bloody conflict."
The situation remains volatile as Israel has reportedly warned Iran that "Tehran will burn" if attacks continue, while international concerns grow about the potential for further escalation in the region.
The Nigerian government has also condemned the hostilities between Iran and Israel, joining other nations calling for de-escalation of tensions in the Middle East.
