Former United States President Donald Trump has claimed credit for ending the recent conflict between Israel and Iran, stating that both nations "wanted to stop the War, equally."

In a post on his Truth Social account on Tuesday, Trump boasted about his alleged role in destroying Iran's nuclear capabilities before facilitating a ceasefire between the warring nations.

"It was my great honor to Destroy All nuclear facilities and capability, and then, stop the war!" Trump declared in his statement.

The former president's claims come shortly after he reportedly warned Israel against bombing Iran. According to reports, Trump had earlier directed Israeli planes allegedly heading to bomb Iranian targets to "turn around back home."

Iran's Stance on the Ceasefire

Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian had previously stated that his country would honor the ceasefire agreement unless Israel violated it first. The Iranian leader announced what he described as "the end of a 12-day war" between the two nations.

The ceasefire has been welcomed by several international stakeholders, including France, which has urged immediate talks on nuclear and missile threats in the region.

Despite the apparent de-escalation, Iran has reportedly indicated that its nuclear activities would continue, raising questions about the accuracy of Trump's claims regarding the destruction of Iran's nuclear capabilities.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Chief Rafael Grossi has proposed a meeting with Iran's foreign minister amid ongoing concerns about the country's nuclear program.

The ceasefire has also had economic implications, with European gas prices reportedly dropping following the announcement of the agreement between Israel and Iran.
