President Bola Tinubu on Saturday evening hosted a high-profile meeting with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and several prominent chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The meeting was attended by former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, and former Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

According to a source who spoke to BenriNews, "Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, President Bola Tinubu, former Governors of Benue and Abia States, Samuel Ortom and Okezie Ikpeazu respectively, met at the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja today."

Details of the closed-door meeting have not been disclosed as of press time.

Recent Engagements with the President

This meeting follows a recent visit by Fayose to President Tinubu during the Sallah break on June 9 at the President's Lagos residence. After that meeting, Fayose told journalists that he had visited to encourage the President.

Despite being a PDP chieftain, Fayose has publicly expressed his belief in Tinubu's leadership, stating that he had always supported Tinubu even while serving as a PDP governor. During his previous visit, Fayose commended the President for his efforts in stabilizing the Nigerian economy.

The meeting comes amid ongoing political realignments and cross-party engagements that have characterized Nigerian politics in recent months.

Minister Wike, who has been vocal about his commitment to completing abandoned projects in the FCT, has maintained close ties with the presidency despite being a prominent PDP member before his ministerial appointment.
