The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced Tuesday, June 17, as the official launch date for its campaign ahead of the July 12 local government elections. The event will take place at the party's State Secretariat in Ogba.

According to a statement issued by Lagos APC Publicity Secretary, Mogaji Oluseye Oladejo, the campaign launch will feature the formal presentation of candidates and the symbolic handover of party flags.

Campaign Structure and Organization

The APC has adopted a decentralized campaign approach across the three senatorial districts: Lagos East, Lagos Central, and Lagos West. Due to its size, Lagos West has been further subdivided to ensure comprehensive coverage.

"The flag-off ceremony will be witnessed by party chieftains, elected and appointed officials of the party across the three tiers of government," the statement read.

To drive grassroots mobilization, the party has established Local Organizing Committees (LOCs) in each local government area. These committees will ensure widespread outreach throughout the state.

Candidate Selection Process

The APC has already concluded its primaries, during which Chairmanship, Vice Chairmanship, and Councilorship candidates emerged across the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs), 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), and 377 wards in the state.

The party stated that its campaign will highlight the achievements of the outgoing local administrations, the implementation of impactful social initiatives, and its commitment to continued development in line with its progressive agenda.

"We wish to seize this opportunity to urge all voters to endeavor to perform their civic responsibility on the day of the elections to further grow our nascent democracy," the statement added.

In compliance with electoral regulations, the campaign will conclude one day before the elections on July 12.

The upcoming local government elections are seen as crucial for grassroots governance in Nigeria's commercial capital, with the APC looking to maintain its dominance in Lagos State politics.
