The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Sola Elesin, has revealed that the party has commenced aggressive mobilization efforts aimed at securing victory in the upcoming 2026 governorship election.

Elesin disclosed that the party's renewed campaign drive follows the recent release of the election timetable by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the off-season Ekiti governorship poll.

Women Mobilization Strategy Begins

As part of the early preparations, Deputy Governor Chief Monisade Afuye on Tuesday convened a strategic meeting with APC women leaders from across the three senatorial districts and all 16 local government areas of the state. The gathering, held at the Deputy Governor's Office in Ado Ekiti, focused on strategies to mobilize women voters ahead of the election.

The high-profile meeting was attended by several government officials and party leaders including Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro; Special Adviser on Political Matters to the Governor, Chief Jide Awe; and APC State Women Leader, Mrs. Cecilia Eegunlusi.

Speaking on behalf of the group, identified as the "APC Women Think-tank," Elesin emphasized the crucial role of women in political mobilization.

"We invited the women leaders from the three senatorial districts and the 16 Local Governments to officially inform them that INEC had released the Ekiti governorship time table, knowing what women are in politics: great mobilisers," Elesin stated.

"What we are doing is a prelude to the readiness for political campaign when INEC finally lifts the ban. The election time table is out. We need to keep our people abreast of the happenings, so that we can effectively mobilise our supporters ahead of the election."

Confidence in Victory

When asked about the party's chances in the upcoming election, Elesin expressed strong confidence in APC's prospects.

"Go and do your independent findings, you will see things for yourself. It is something that is visible and you can see who is going to win the election. Our party is firmly on ground and highly acceptable to the populace," he asserted.

The APC chairman also addressed concerns about the party's primary election, noting that Governor Biodun Oyebanji has already received numerous endorsements from the three senatorial districts and various interest groups.

"Primary is an internal affairs of a political party. You can see the series of endorsements that Governor Oyebanji had received from the three senatorial districts and other interested groups. These won't create any crisis. When we get to the bridge, we will know how to cross it," Elesin explained.

The APC's early mobilization efforts highlight the party's determination to retain power in Ekiti State, with a particular focus on leveraging women's political influence to secure victory in the 2026 gubernatorial contest.
