Five people have lost their lives and thirteen others sustained various degrees of injuries following a high voltage electricity incident in Gombe State. The tragic event occurred in the Tudun-Wadan Pantami area of Gombe Metropolis, causing significant damage to electrical appliances and creating shock hazards on metal objects in residential areas.
The Gombe Police Command's Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari AbdullahiM, confirmed the incident in an official statement released on Friday. According to the statement, law enforcement officers responded promptly to the emergency.
"Upon receiving the report, officers from the Low-cost Divisional Police Headquarters promptly visited the scene to secure the area and evacuate the victims to hospital for medical attention," the police spokesperson said.
Ongoing Medical Treatment
The thirteen injured victims are currently receiving medical care at various health facilities across the state capital. Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the hospital morgue for further procedures.
Authorities have not yet provided details regarding the cause of the high voltage surge or whether any power distribution company will be held accountable for the incident. The extent of property damage across the affected neighborhood also remains unclear.
