Paul Ibe, media adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has launched a scathing attack on former presidential aide Reno Omokri over his continued criticism of Labour Party's 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
In a strongly-worded post on his X account on Saturday, Ibe described Omokri's attacks on Obi as "pedestrian, acerbic, and unprovoked," questioning what motivated such persistent criticism.
War of Words Escalates
"Reno Omokri, you are a classic case study in psychological projection—an insecure man so desperate to escape his own failures that he accuses others of the very flaws that define him," Ibe wrote, adding that associating credibility with Omokri was "an oxymoron so wild it should be banned by both logic and language."
The media adviser's outburst came in response to Omokri's earlier remarks on Friday, where he implicitly claimed credibility, attributing it to a recent telephone conversation with Atiku Abubakar.
Ibe further questioned Omokri's motives: "You also said you never attack your friends unless they strike first. Really? Then what did Peter Obi ever do to deserve your endless, pedestrian, vitriolic, and acerbic attacks? Or was his popularity simply a threat to your ego?"
Background of the Conflict
BenriNews reports that Omokri has repeatedly accused Peter Obi of using fake figures to deceive Nigerians. In his Friday post, Omokri also detailed a recent phone conversation with Atiku, stating that the former vice president "has been good to me."
This public spat highlights growing tensions within Nigeria's political landscape as key figures position themselves ahead of future electoral contests.
The exchange between Ibe and Omokri reflects the increasingly fractious nature of political discourse in Nigeria, particularly on social media platforms where political allies and opponents engage in heated debates.
