Nigerian singer, Anthony Ebuka Victor, popularly known as Victony, has made a surprising revelation about his performance routine, disclosing that he has never taken to the stage without consuming alcohol.
The 'Soweto' hitmaker shared this information during a recent conversation with Behind The Prestige, explaining that alcohol has been a constant companion for his performances.
"I'm trying to do this tour so wow. It's a big challenge. I have never been on stage without taking alcohol," Victony admitted.
Plans for Change During 'Stubborn' Tour
The artist revealed he intends to break this pattern during his ongoing 'Stubborn' tour, expressing a desire to connect more authentically with his audience.
"But [for this tour], I'm trying to see my fans clearly and truly connect with them. I just want to try," he explained, suggesting that performing sober would give him a more genuine experience with his supporters.
This revelation comes as Victony continues to build his career following the success of hits like 'Soweto,' which he has previously credited with changing his life.
The singer has also been open about his health struggles in the past, having undergone multiple surgeries. In previous interviews, he mentioned that his "leg still hurts" and that he was scheduled for a fifth surgery.
Victony has also spoken about his artistic journey, once noting that he's "not in a rush to be on Rema, Asake's level" and crediting Olamide as an inspiration for his debut album.
