Controversial social media critic, VeryDarkMan, has publicly criticized three of Nigeria's biggest music stars—Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid—for purchasing luxury vehicles worth billions of naira amid the country's ongoing economic challenges.
The criticism comes shortly after Burna Boy acquired a new McLaren Sienna car valued at approximately N3.5 billion, becoming the first person in Africa to own this model. Hours later, Davido reportedly purchased a 2026 Mercedes Maybach SL 680 worth N1.2 billion, while Wizkid had earlier bought a vehicle estimated at N1.7 billion.
"Don't You Read The Room?"
In a viral Instagram video, VeryDarkMan questioned the musicians' sensitivity to the economic hardship facing many Nigerians, including their fans.
"Yesterday I saw the news that Burna Boy bought a N3.5 billion car. The same yesterday Davido bought a car of over 1 billion Naira. They have been doing these," VeryDarkMan stated in the video.
He continued, "The question I have for Burna Boy, Wizkid and Davido, don't you people read the room? Una no really dey see country wey una come from? You guys are not the government but I just need to say this."
Direct Challenge to Davido
Despite being known as an associate of Davido, VeryDarkMan specifically challenged the singer about his contributions to his home state of Osun.
"Let me start with Davido because na you I know very well, Na you be my guy. What can you beat your chest to say you have done for the people of Osun State that you come from?" he questioned.
"What is your contribution to the growth of Nigeria? Because you have benefited from Nigeria and you have benefited from your fans. What can your fans say they have benefited from you?"
The social media critic further alleged that Davido's last visible presence in Osun State was during his uncle's gubernatorial campaign, questioning what lasting impact the musician has made for youth in the region since then.
This controversy highlights the ongoing debate about celebrity responsibility and wealth display in Nigeria, particularly during periods of economic difficulty for the general population.
