Afrobeat singer and songwriter, Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe, widely known as Kizz Daniel, has opened up about the emotional story behind his song 'Al-Jannah', revealing it was inspired by multiple personal losses in his life.

In a recent podcast interview, the Nigerian music star shared the deep connection he had with his late father, describing him as his "best friend" before his passing in 2015.

Personal Tragedies Behind the Music

"'Al-Jannah' means 'paradise'. I wanted to write a tribute song," Kizz Daniel explained. "We've lost people in the past. We lost our son in 2021. I lost my dad in 2015; my wife lost her mum in 2024; I lost my step-mum; we lost a whole lot of people."

The singer emphasized that rather than dedicating the song to just one person, he created it as a universal tribute to all loved ones lost. "I wanted to make a song for everyone, not just one person. It's about our loved ones we have lost in this journey of life," he said.

"I think I was able to accomplish that by using the word friend in the song," the artist added, highlighting how the lyrics were crafted to resonate with anyone who has experienced loss.

Kizz Daniel's father passed away on May 9, 2015, just days after the singer's 21st birthday, marking a significant turning point in his life and career.

The 'Buga' hitmaker has been increasingly open about his personal life in recent times, having previously announced a break from recording to focus on family matters.

In recent years, Kizz Daniel has also reclaimed the rights to his debut album 'New Era' from his former record label G-Worldwide, marking another significant chapter in his musical journey.
