Joint security operatives have successfully raided a criminal hideout and arrested fourteen suspected swindlers in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of Jigawa State following numerous complaints from residents about fraudulent activities in the area.
The coordinated intelligence-led operation was carried out in the early hours of Thursday, June 12, 2025, around 10:00 am at Digawa Village, where the suspects were reportedly perpetrating various fraudulent schemes.
Recovered Items and Arrest Details
Police spokesman, SP. Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the arrest to BenriNews, stating that the operation involved a joint team of police, army, civil defence, DSS, vigilante, and yan bulala personnel.
"During the raid, security personnel arrested fourteen male suspects and recovered a cache of incriminating items," SP Shiisu explained.
The recovered items include:
- Nine fabricated pistols
- Twenty-seven dane guns
- Thirty-seven gun pieces
- Four motorcycles
- Twelve pieces of fake USD
- One hundred and eighty-eight pieces of suspected fake Central African Currency
Additional items seized include bow and arrow, metals, animal skin, file, saw, vice, blower, and various items described as criminal charms.
Investigation Underway
According to the police spokesman, all fourteen suspects are currently in custody and undergoing thorough investigation. Upon completion of the investigation, they will be arraigned in court for prosecution.
The raid follows a series of complaints from residents about fraudulent activities being perpetrated within Digawa Village and its environs.
SP Shiisu urged the public to continue cooperating with security agencies by promptly reporting suspicious activities within and outside their communities to help maintain law and order.
