The Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Lere Olayinka, has launched a scathing attack on Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and Ovation Magazine publisher, Dele Momodu, stating that he is in "need of urgent deliverance and rehabilitation before things get out of hand."

The statement, released on Thursday, came in response to Momodu's televised criticism of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike during a Wednesday interview where Momodu questioned Wike's credentials to speak on democracy in Nigeria.

"Where was Wike during the June 12 struggle? Who knew him then? But today, he speaks as if he's the founding father," Momodu had said during the interview.

Olayinka's Fierce Response

In his rebuttal, Olayinka questioned Momodu's own historical credentials, asking, "Where was Dele Momodu too when Nigeria was being founded? Was he among the founding fathers of Nigeria to be living in the country?"

Wike's aide further claimed that Momodu's "mental case" had "graduated from psychology to psychosis," suggesting that the PDP chieftain "now sees Wike in everything he does, even in his sleep."

"Since in the warped mindset of Dele Momodu, those who were not part of the June 12 struggle are not entitled to speak about democracy in Nigeria, I think those who were not part of the struggle for the independence of Nigeria should also not live in the country," Olayinka stated.

Questioning Momodu's June 12 Credentials

Olayinka didn't stop there, as he went on to challenge Momodu's own claims about his involvement in the June 12 struggle, accusing him of using the movement for personal gain.

"He only used the June 12 struggle to Japa. He didn't struggle for anything other than his own well-being," Olayinka alleged.

The aide further criticized Momodu for allegedly using "the children of the man who incarcerated MKO Abiola till he died in custody as a model for any photo book" and for "visiting the mansions of Military Generals to take pictures for publication."

"Therefore, when the register of those who fought for the actualization of June 12 is being taken, people like Dele Momodu, who used it to hustle should stop forcing their names into it," Olayinka concluded.

This exchange highlights the ongoing tensions within Nigerian political circles, particularly as the country recently commemorated Democracy Day, which marks the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.
