Segun Sowunmi, a former spokesman for ex-presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar's campaign organization, has launched a fresh verbal attack against former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, claiming that while he and presidential spokesman Daniel Bwala remained loyal to Nigeria, Obi was busy changing political affiliations.
Sowunmi's comments came in response to criticism from an X user who accused him of inconsistency and flip-flopping, comparing him to Daniel Bwala, President Bola Tinubu's spokesman.
"Your @PeterObi was busy jumping from APGA to PDP to Labour and now to Indonesia while I was standing firm with Nigeria; at least, I and Bwala always stand by our country while yours suddenly dresses like an Indonesian. Incredible Joker," Sowunmi posted on social media.

The PDP chieftain's comments appear to reference Obi's political journey, which has seen him move from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before eventually becoming the Labour Party's presidential candidate in the last election. The reference to Indonesia likely relates to Obi's recent international travels.
Sowunmi himself has been the subject of speculation regarding his political allegiances after he visited President Tinubu during the recent Sallah break in Lagos State. Addressing this visit, Sowunmi stated that he would formally defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) if he wished to support Tinubu.
The former PDP governorship candidate in Ogun State has maintained that his actions are consistent with standing for Nigeria, despite criticism from supporters of other political figures.
This exchange highlights the ongoing tensions between supporters of different political camps in Nigeria's increasingly polarized political landscape as the country continues to navigate its democratic journey.
