Kano Pillars are currently in negotiations with experienced tactician Gbenga Ogunbote to take over as the club's technical adviser following the departure of Usman Abdallah.

The four-time Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions announced Abdallah's exit on Wednesday, with the former coach citing personal reasons for his decision to step down from the position.

Ogunbote, who has been at the helm of Shooting Stars for the past two seasons, still has one year remaining on his current contract with the Ibadan-based club. His extensive coaching experience in the NPFL includes successful stints with several prominent clubs including Sunshine Stars, Remo Stars, Enyimba, and Rangers International.

The potential appointment comes at a crucial time for Kano Pillars, known as Sai Masu Gida, as they look to strengthen their technical department ahead of the upcoming season. The club will be hoping to leverage Ogunbote's wealth of experience to improve their standing in the league.

This development is part of several coaching movements in the NPFL, with recent reports also indicating that Aliyu Zubairu has left El-Kanemi Warriors, while Christian Madu is set to exit Lobi Stars.

The NPFL is also preparing for the 2025-26 season with new stadium approval requirements, while current champions Remo Stars are scheduled to be hosted by President Bola Tinubu in recognition of their achievement.
