President Bola Tinubu has publicly declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is ready to welcome the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, whenever he decides to switch allegiance from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The President made this statement on Wednesday while commissioning the Arterial Road N16 (Shehu Shagari Way) from Ring Road One (Nnamdi Azikiwe Way) to Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Road) and other roads in Katampe District.

"We are open to receiving him," Tinubu said, adding that with Wike, the APC "will continue to be in a joyous mood" while the party's rivals would continue to "writhe in pain."

PDP's Ongoing Leadership Crisis

Wike, who currently remains a member of the PDP, has been at the center of the opposition party's leadership crisis that dates back to the build-up to the 2023 presidential election. Despite being a PDP member, Wike serves as a minister in the APC-led federal government, a situation that has raised eyebrows across Nigeria's political landscape.

The President's invitation comes amid growing speculation about Wike's political future and his strained relationship with the PDP leadership. Political analysts suggest this public invitation could further complicate the already tense situation within the opposition party.

Wike has not publicly responded to the President's comments as of the time of this report.

The FCT Minister has been praised by the Tinubu administration for his infrastructure development efforts in Abuja, with the President frequently commending his performance despite their different party affiliations.
