Social commentator Reno Omokri has claimed that former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi is afraid of him, not the other way around, amid ongoing social media confrontations between the two political figures.

Speaking on Channels TV's Politics Today programme on Wednesday, Omokri, who recently declared support for President Bola Tinubu, dismissed suggestions that he fears Obi, instead turning the accusation around.

"I mean, how can I be afraid of Peter Obi? Peter Obi is one that is afraid of me," Omokri stated during the interview.

The social commentator alleged that Obi's official spokesman, Valentine, regularly attacks him across multiple social media platforms. "His spokesman, his official spokesman Valentine, every single day, he's on my Facebook profile, my X status, profile and on Instagram, insulting me, attacking me every single day. I challenge Nigerians to go there. Why? Because they are afraid of me," Omokri claimed.

Omokri further alleged that supporters of the Labour Party, commonly known as 'the Obidients,' have been consistently targeting him on social media platforms.

Political Tensions Continue

This latest exchange highlights the ongoing tensions between various political camps in Nigeria's political landscape. Omokri, once known for his criticism of the APC, has recently shifted his support toward President Tinubu's administration.

The Labour Party has previously accused the Tinubu government of instigating internal crises within their party, while Peter Obi has maintained his position as a critic of several government policies, particularly regarding the removal of fuel subsidies.

Neither Peter Obi nor his spokesman had responded to Omokri's claims at the time of this report.
