The Kebbi State Government has disbursed N1.5 billion in compensation to property owners affected by the planned construction of a dual carriageway in Jega town.

According to officials, the compensation covers 236 verified recipients whose buildings have been marked for demolition to make way for the road development project.

During the disbursement ceremony held on Tuesday, the Chairman of the Compensation Committee, Alhaji Aliyu Maude, explained that beneficiaries received cheques based on the professional valuation of their properties.

"The affected property owners have been given a two-month notice period to vacate their premises to allow for the commencement of the project," Maude stated.

Royal Support for Development Project

The Emir of Jega, Alhaji Muhammad Arzika-Bawa, who was present at the event, urged residents to cooperate with authorities to ensure the smooth execution of the infrastructure project.

The royal father emphasized the importance of community support for developmental initiatives that would ultimately benefit the town and its inhabitants.

This dual carriageway project represents a significant infrastructure upgrade for Jega town, which is expected to improve transportation, enhance economic activities, and modernize the urban landscape.

The state government's prompt compensation demonstrates its commitment to ensuring that affected residents are fairly treated while pursuing development goals.

Construction timelines for the project have not yet been announced, but preparations are clearly underway with the compensation process now completed.
