Residents of Kebbi State will soon experience relief from the prolonged power outage as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has confirmed that full electricity supply will be restored on or before Thursday, June 19, 2025.
The state has been grappling with nearly two months of blackout following the collapse of critical transmission towers along the Kainji–Birnin Kebbi 330kV line. The situation worsened when two additional towers collapsed in Galadima Village, Shanga Local Government Area, after a severe windstorm.
Current Power Situation in Kebbi
To maintain minimal electricity supply across parts of the state, authorities rerouted limited power from the Shiroro Power Station in Niger State. However, this temporary solution has been insufficient, forcing residents and businesses to rely heavily on alternative energy sources such as generators and solar panels.
BenriNews had earlier reported the infrastructure damage that led to the widespread outage affecting homes, businesses, and essential services throughout Kebbi State.
Reconstruction Progress
According to TCN's latest update, reconstruction works on the damaged towers are now in the final phase. Contractors are reportedly working around the clock to meet the June 19 deadline set for complete restoration.
Once completed, Kebbi will be reconnected to the national grid via the Kainji–Birnin Kebbi line, restoring stable electricity to the entire state. This development comes at a crucial time as electricity demand continues to rise during the rainy season.
The power restoration is expected to bring significant relief to residents who have endured extended periods without electricity, affecting daily activities and business operations across the state.
