Tech billionaire Elon Musk has publicly expressed regret over his recent social media posts about U.S. President Donald Trump, acknowledging that his comments "went too far" following an intense online feud between the former allies.

"I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far," Musk wrote on Wednesday morning on X, the social media platform he owns.

Resignation and Rising Tensions

The public spat erupted shortly after Musk resigned from his position as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a role he had controversially held in the Trump administration. Musk's departure was reportedly triggered by disagreements over Trump's proposed "Big Beautiful Bill," which Musk claimed would reverse many of DOGE's streamlining efforts.

As tensions escalated, Musk posted a series of inflammatory comments on X, including support for impeachment calls and accusations that the president was ungrateful. He also referenced unverified allegations linking Trump to Jeffrey Epstein and warned that Trump's tariff policies could lead the U.S. into recession. Most of these contentious posts have since been deleted.

Trump's Response

President Trump has shown little interest in immediate reconciliation with the tech mogul. When asked by reporters about the possibility of mending their relationship, Trump stated, "He was disrespectful to the office of the president."

"I haven't really thought about it actually. I would imagine he wants to speak to me. I would think so, if I were him, I'd want to speak to me," Trump added, noting that he would not oppose taking a call from the billionaire.

Shifting Stance Amid Civil Unrest

Musk's change in tone appears to coincide with recent violent protests in Los Angeles sparked by a federal immigration raid. These events seem to have influenced Musk's position, potentially realigning him with the Trump administration's policies.

Earlier this week, Musk reposted a statement from Vice President JD Vance praising the president's hardline response to the riots, adding American flag emojis to show support. He also shared a Truth Social screenshot of Trump demanding an apology from California officials for the unrest.

Potential for Reconciliation

Vice President Vance offered a diplomatic perspective on the Musk-Trump dispute in a recent interview: "The President is a little frustrated but he's actually been restrained because he doesn't want to be in some blood feud with Elon Musk."

"I think if Elon chills out a little bit everything will be fine," Vance added, to which Musk simply responded "cool."

As of now, no direct conversation between Trump and Musk has been confirmed. Whether the two will publicly reconcile remains uncertain, though insiders suggest the door remains open—but on Trump's terms.

The ongoing situation highlights the volatile nature of political alliances in the current administration and the significant influence that high-profile business leaders can wield in the political arena.
