Paul Ibe, the media adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has described Segun Sowunmi, Daniel Bwala, and Reno Omokri as "political adventurers and nomads" who change allegiances for personal gain.
In a clarification addressing misconceptions about Sowunmi's relationship with Atiku, Ibe emphasized that Sowunmi was never directly employed by the former Vice President but served only as a spokesperson within the now-defunct PDP Presidential Campaign Council.
"Sowunmi was never a direct aide to Atiku Abubakar. He was one of several spokespersons in the defunct campaign organization. That's an important distinction," Ibe stated.
He further characterized Bwala and Omokri as political nomads, saying they move "from one place to another, always seeking the next opportunity," and cautioned media outlets against misrepresenting these roles, suggesting such misrepresentations often benefit political opponents.
On Political Loyalty
While acknowledging that political defections are a democratic right, Ibe criticized those who benefited from Atiku's platform only to later criticize him for personal advantage elsewhere.
"You're free to associate with anyone, but don't bite the hand that fed you," he remarked, suggesting that loyalty should extend beyond immediate political convenience.
The statement comes amid ongoing realignments in Nigerian politics, particularly following the 2023 general elections and recent discussions about opposition coalitions.
