The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Sly Ezeokenwa, has expressed strong confidence in his party's prospects for the upcoming November 2025 governorship election in Anambra State, declaring that there is "no contest" for the incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television's 'The Morning Brief' on Wednesday, Ezeokenwa attributed this confidence to what he described as widespread satisfaction among Anambra residents with the current APGA-led administration's performance.
"Anambra people can say, 'We've never had it this good in just three years by any elected officials in the past.' That is the consensus opinion on the streets of Anambra. And in that context, I can tell you, well, there is no contest really," Ezeokenwa stated.
Legacy of Development
The APGA chairman emphasized that residents are particularly impressed with the pace of progress achieved in the state over the past three years under Governor Soludo's leadership.
"On the streets of Anambra, the general opinion is clear, and that is that the state is still very much with APGA. They have not seen any reason to change the trajectory of development that they have witnessed from 2006 to date," he added.
Ezeokenwa's comments come shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) released the final list of candidates for the November election. While acknowledging that elections naturally involve multiple candidates, the APGA chairman maintained that the reality on the ground points to overwhelming support for his party.
Party Ideology Resonates with Voters
According to Ezeokenwa, APGA's unbroken legacy since taking power in 2006 has been further strengthened by the current administration's delivery on development promises. He explained that the party's core ideology of "leaving no one behind" continues to resonate deeply with voters across Anambra State.
The November 2025 governorship election will be a critical test for APGA's continued dominance in Anambra politics, with Governor Soludo seeking a second term in office amid challenges from opposition parties.
