The Anambra State Signage and Advertising Agency (ANSAA) has announced that all 16 governorship candidates participating in the upcoming November 8, 2025 election must pay N50 million each before commencing their campaigns in the state.

This mandatory fee, disclosed during a press conference on Wednesday, will permit candidates to paste posters, erect billboards, and utilize branded campaign materials throughout the state's 21 local government areas.

Equal Application to All Candidates

Mr. Tony Ujubuonu, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ANSAA, emphasized that the requirement applies to all political parties fielding candidates, including the incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

"The permit comes with a statutory fee of Fifty Million Naira (N50,000,000) only, payable to the Anambra State government account," Ujubuonu stated. "This campaign fee grants the parties the right to deploy their campaign materials and activities using posters, public address system, branded vehicles, banners, fliers, bunting, T-shirts, caps, street storms, rallies and sundry in location across the cities, villages and communities in the 21 local government areas of the state."

According to Ujubuonu, the policy aims to "maintain professional standards in the use of public advertising" while ensuring orderliness, preventing visual pollution, and creating a level playing field for all candidates.

Campaign Timeline

The announcement coincides with the official commencement of campaigns for the Anambra governorship election on Wednesday, as stipulated in the guidelines released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

ANSAA, established by law in 2010, is responsible for regulating out-of-home advertising structures and controlling outdoor advertising throughout Anambra State.

The gubernatorial election is scheduled for November 8, 2025, with INEC confirming that 16 political parties have fielded candidates for the contest.
