LaLiga President Javier Tebas has drawn a sharp distinction between how Barcelona and Real Madrid approach complaints in Spanish football, suggesting a significant difference in behavior between the two rival clubs.

Speaking ahead of the 2025/26 LaLiga season, Tebas highlighted that Barcelona, who clinched the 2024/25 LaLiga title ahead of Real Madrid, has a markedly different approach to grievances compared to their eternal rivals.

"There are differences between Barcelona and Madrid. Barça complain twice a season. Madrid complains every single round," Tebas stated. "At least Barcelona complain after the fact... Madrid complains before the match has even been played."

The LaLiga chief also pointed out an interesting observation regarding Real Madrid's behavior following their title loss: "You know what catches my attention? Ever since Real Madrid lost the league, they stopped creating videos to complain about the referees."

These comments come shortly after Tebas tipped both Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr. and Barcelona's young talent Lamine Yamal as potential winners of this year's Ballon d'Or, showing his recognition of exceptional talent from both clubs despite his criticism of their institutional behaviors.

The rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid remains one of the most intense in world football, extending beyond the pitch to influence various aspects of Spanish football politics and governance.

As both clubs prepare for the upcoming season, Tebas' comments highlight the ongoing tension between LaLiga's administration and its two biggest clubs, particularly regarding referee decisions and match officiating.
