Former Real Madrid star, Guti, has publicly criticized Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal for his choice of attire during a recent Spanish national team press conference, describing the 17-year-old's backwards hat as inappropriate for the formal setting.

The incident occurred following Spain's UEFA Nations League campaign, where the team reached the final against Portugal. Despite Yamal's impressive contribution of three goals in seven appearances throughout the tournament, Guti took issue with the teenager's presentation style rather than his on-field performance.

Speaking to El Chiringuito TV, Guti expressed his disapproval: "I didn't like Lamine Yamal going to the press conference with his hat turned backwards. You do these things on vacation or in your personal life, not with the club or the national team."

The former Los Blancos midfielder placed the blame not on Yamal himself but on those surrounding him. "It's not his fault. It's the fault of the people standing next to him who don't say 'no way'. It's not Lamine's fault, he ultimately does what he wants," Guti added.

Yamal's Rising Profile in Spanish Football

Despite the criticism over his attire, Yamal has enjoyed a remarkable season with Barcelona, helping the Catalan giants secure a treble of trophies including LaLiga, the Copa del Rey, and the Supercopa de España.

However, the young star faced a challenging match in the UEFA Nations League final against Portugal, where he was effectively contained by defender Nuno Mendes throughout the game. The final ended in a 2-2 draw, with Portugal eventually claiming a 5-3 victory on penalties.

The incident highlights the intense scrutiny faced by young players in the spotlight, particularly those like Yamal who have risen to prominence at such a tender age. At just 17, the Barcelona prodigy is already navigating the complex world of professional football both on and off the pitch.

This criticism comes amid ongoing discussions about the Ballon d'Or 2025 race, where Yamal's name has been mentioned alongside other contenders following his breakthrough season.
