Senate President Godswill Akpabio has publicly declared the Nigerian Parliament's pride in President Bola Tinubu, urging him to ignore negative criticisms while highlighting ongoing national transformation efforts. The statement came during Tuesday's commissioning ceremony of the newly rehabilitated International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja.

"Mr. President, the renovation, rehabilitation and transformation that we are witnessing at the ICC is what you are bringing to this country, whether people like it or not. The Nigerian parliament is very proud of you," Akpabio stated during the event.

ICC Renamed After President Tinubu

In a significant development during the ceremony, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, who supervised the renovation of the national asset, announced the renaming of the facility after President Bola Tinubu.

President Tinubu, in his remarks at the event, declared that the FCT Minister would now determine who uses the conference centre, further cementing Wike's authority over the newly renovated facility.

The former Akwa Ibom State governor emphasized that the transformation witnessed at the ICC mirrors similar development initiatives taking place across the country under Tinubu's administration.

This public endorsement comes at a time when the administration faces various criticisms regarding its economic policies and governance approach. Akpabio's statement appears to be a strong show of legislative support for the executive arm of government.

The newly renamed Bola Tinubu International Conference Centre is expected to continue serving as a key venue for national and international events in the Federal Capital Territory.
