Hon. Aminu Dan Hamidu, the newly elected Chairman of Bakori Local Government Area in Katsina State, has passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025, barely two months after assuming office.

Hamidu, who officially took office in April 2025 following the February 2025 local government elections, died under circumstances that have not been officially disclosed. However, unofficial reports suggest he had been battling an illness for some time.

The sad news was confirmed in a statement released by Kaula Mohammed, Chief Press Secretary to Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.

Governor Mourns 'Loyal Party Man'

In his condolence message, Governor Radda expressed profound sorrow over Hamidu's passing, describing him as "a loyal party man, a seasoned civil servant, and a grassroots politician who devoted his life to public service with honesty, humility, and uncommon dedication."

"Today, Katsina has lost one of its most committed and selfless sons. Hon. Hamidu was a quiet achiever who believed in the values of integrity, transparency, and people-first leadership," the governor stated.

"His death is a painful loss not only to Bakori but to the entire state," he added.

Brief But Impactful Tenure

Despite his short time in office, Governor Radda noted that Hamidu "left behind a legacy of purpose-driven leadership and genuine commitment to community development."

The governor highlighted Hamidu's career across different levels of government, which was consistently marked by diligence and deep concern for people's welfare.

"He was not someone who sought the spotlight. He let his work speak for him," Radda remarked. "Even in a short period, he showed what leadership could mean when rooted in sincerity. May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdausi."

On behalf of the government and people of Katsina State, Governor Radda extended heartfelt condolences to Hamidu's family, the people of Bakori, and members of the APC family across the state.

"We will continue to remember him for his modesty, his dedication, and the love he had for his people," the governor concluded.
