Borno South Senator Ali Ndume has expressed serious concerns about President Bola Tinubu's growing disconnection from reality, attributing this to close aides who shield the president from the true state of affairs in the country.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television's Sunday Politics, Ndume lamented the current state of governance under the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that many Nigerians are increasingly frustrated with the pace of development.
"Things are not going the way they should, and even Mr. President has admitted that," Ndume said during the live interview. "But what we keep hearing is that Nigerians should be patient. My question is—how long can people continue to endure?"
Presidential Advisers Under Fire
The senator did not hold back in his criticism of the president's inner circle, accusing them of only telling Tinubu what he wants to hear rather than providing honest assessments of the country's problems.
"Those around him only feed him with what he wants to hear, not what is actually happening. Among his advisers, the only one I commend is Sunday Dare. He speaks the truth and understands Tinubu well because they've been together for years," Ndume stated.
He further alleged that unelected individuals have hijacked the administration and are now controlling its direction. "There are people who have hijacked this government. They are the ones calling the shots. Only what they say gets done," he claimed.
No Personal Grudge
Despite his strong criticisms, Ndume emphasized that he bears no personal ill will toward President Tinubu.
"I don't have any problem with the President. He is my president. But if he does something that's not right, I will point it out. That's my responsibility," he concluded.
Ndume's comments come at a time when the APC-led government faces mounting pressure to address inflation, security challenges, and the rising cost of living that continue to affect Nigerians across the country.
