The remains of elder statesman and former Federal Permanent Secretary, Fidelis Kaigama, arrived in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital on Sunday. The body was flown into the state via the Danbaba Suntai Airport in Jalingo.
BenriNews reports that the Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, John Kizito Bonzena, received the body on behalf of the state government. During the reception, Bonzena described death as "a necessary end for all mortals" and urged the Kaigama family to find strength in their faith during this difficult time.
Following a brief ceremony at the airport, Kaigama's remains were transported to the Federal Medical Center in Jalingo, where they were deposited in the mortuary ahead of funeral arrangements.
Tributes Pour In
Since the news of his passing, tributes have continued to pour in from across the country for the late Kaigama. Elder statesman Sir Pius Isa Dauda and Taraba State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Augustina Godwin, both praised his unwavering commitment to public service and his lasting contributions to Taraba State and Nigeria.
Many who spoke with our reporter described Kaigama's passing as a significant loss to both the state and the nation at large.
In a condolence message to the people of Taraba, President Bola Tinubu described the late Kaigama as a revered mentor who "shaped minds with wisdom, guided hearts with compassion, and brought discipline and inspiration to the workplace."
Fidelis Kaigama died on June 6, 2025, in Abuja at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife, children, and other family members.
