A tragic incident occurred at the Mosalasi Roundabout along New Ipaja Road in Lagos State when a speeding vehicle struck and killed a female pedestrian on Saturday.
According to preliminary investigations, a black Toyota Tundra with registration number FST 222 HV was traveling at an extremely high speed when the driver lost control. The vehicle veered off the main carriageway and mounted the pedestrian walkway, fatally striking the woman.
The impact was so severe that it propelled the vehicle into a nearby livestock business, causing significant damage to the perimeter fence and a large advertising billboard.
Eyewitnesses reported that the driver attempted to flee the scene but was quickly apprehended by officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA). The suspect was subsequently handed over to security operatives from the Gowon Estate Command for further investigation.
The remains of the deceased have been transferred to the Nigeria Police Force for appropriate procedures, while the driver remains in custody undergoing interrogation as investigations continue.
