The Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, has broken his silence regarding a viral video that allegedly showed him brandishing a firearm, describing the experience as both "hurtful" and "shocking."
Speaking to his congregation in Lagos on Sunday morning before his sermon, Adefarasin attributed the controversial clip to "clickbaiters just looking for money" and suggested he was not their primary target.
"Several persons called me. I was shocked. I was hurt. I'm human," Adefarasin said. "What we have had to witness was clickbaiters just looking for money. I probably wasn't even their target; their target was to make more money."
The prominent cleric categorically denied owning or carrying a firearm, though he did not clarify what he actually pointed at the content creator during the incident.
I was falsely accused of pointing a firearm at an aggressive content creator who came within personal distance. I do not have a pistol license. I do not carry a firearm. And I pointed no firearm at anybody.
Adefarasin further explained his church's approach to such controversies, stating, "It's our policy not to dignify hate speech and false accusations. We believe God is bigger than that."
Drawing from scripture, he added: "We believe in what He said in Romans 12:19 — 'Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.'"
The incident has sparked discussions across social media platforms, with many of his followers expressing support for the pastor amid the controversy.
