A coalition of young professionals from the Southeast, operating under the banner of South East Progressive Ambassadors (SEPA), has launched a campaign urging Ndigbo to support President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027.

In a press statement jointly signed by the group's convener, Mr. John CDO Ikeotuonye, and secretary, Dr. Justin Ogoo Nwankwo, SEPA emphasized that failing to back Tinubu would disadvantage the region politically.

The group expressed confidence that Southeastern Nigerians are increasingly embracing the president's "Renewed Hope" agenda, recognizing the strategic importance of political alliance over confrontation.

Strategic Alliance for Regional Development

"The only time to demonstrate that the South East has taken its proper seat in strategic planning and geo-political renaissance in Nigeria is in the upcoming 2027 election, and the best choice for Ndi-Igbo to make is to unanimously key into the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu," the statement read.

SEPA praised Tinubu's efforts to address issues such as fund diversion by state governments and his vision to enhance local government accountability and development.

The group called for unity among Southeastern states, particularly urging young professionals and progressives "who are tired of back room and arm chair politics" to join the movement supporting Tinubu's re-election in 2027.

"We therefore resolve and advise Ndi-Igbo that 2027 must not catch South East Region unawares! We must be prepared to key into the Renewed Hope Agenda, and position for strategic and progressive alliance with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu," the statement emphasized.

Tinubu's Initiatives for the Southeast

SEPA highlighted several initiatives by the Tinubu administration that demonstrate commitment to the Southeast region, including:

  • Establishment of the South East Development Commission (SEDC)
  • Appointment of a Special Adviser for community liaison in Southeast states
  • Key political appointments for people from the zone
  • Recent official presidential visits to all Southeast states

"Following the tide of events, it is evident that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has the capacity and will achieve his promises to Nigeria. We believe in Tinubu to restructure and recover the Nigerian state from failure," the group concluded.

The statement reflects a growing recognition among some Southeast political groups of the need for strategic alliances within Nigeria's complex political landscape, particularly as the 2027 election cycle approaches.
