Nine people lost their lives in a tragic road accident that occurred in Kyarama village, Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State on Saturday, June 7, 2025.

According to SP. Lawan Shiisu Adam, spokesperson for the Jigawa State Police Command, the fatal incident happened around 2:00 am when two Golf 3 saloon vehicles had a head-on collision.

Details of the Collision

Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the vehicles with registration number Kaduna MKA 687 AY was driven by Adamu Sunusi from Hadejia LGA. He was traveling from Abuja to Gujungu town when the accident occurred.

The second vehicle, with registration number KWL 606 KA, was driven by Bashari Danjummai from Sauna, Nassarawa LGA, Kano State. He was heading to Kano from Hadejia when both vehicles collided at Kyarama village.

The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in the immediate deaths of several passengers. The injured victims were rushed to Ringim General Hospital, where doctors pronounced nine passengers, including both drivers, dead upon arrival.

Police confirmed that post-mortem examinations were conducted, and the bodies were released to the families of the deceased for burial. Meanwhile, eleven other passengers who sustained various degrees of injuries are currently receiving treatment at the hospital and are reportedly responding to treatment.

Authorities are working to identify all victims and notify their families.

CP AT Abdullahi, the Commissioner of Police for Jigawa State Command, has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

The Commissioner also used the opportunity to urge drivers to strictly adhere to traffic rules and regulations. He emphasized the importance of avoiding overspeeding and ensuring vehicles are roadworthy before embarking on journeys, especially during night hours.
