Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has extended warm Eid-el-Kabir greetings to Muslim faithful and all FCT residents, urging them to embrace the core values of sacrifice, devotion, and unity during this year's celebration.
In a statement issued on Friday, Wike highlighted the profound spiritual significance of the occasion, which commemorates Prophet Ibrahim's (AS) exemplary obedience and devotion.
"This celebration is not only a spiritual milestone but also a time to renew our collective commitment to peace, tolerance, and mutual respect," the Minister stated.
Commendation for Abuja's Muslim Community
Wike praised the Muslim community in Abuja for their unwavering dedication to fostering peace, development, tolerance, and harmonious coexistence within the Federal Capital Territory.
He reassured residents of the FCT Administration's commitment under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda to enhance their quality of life through various development initiatives.
"In the coming days, we will begin commissioning a plethora of completed projects across the Territory, in celebration of Mr. President's second year in office. These are critical projects aimed at opening up the healthcare, education, agriculture, transportation and more sectors of the FCT," Wike revealed.
The Minister emphasized that these projects serve as tangible evidence of the administration's dedication to delivering meaningful change and building a capital city that embodies the aspirations of all Nigerians.
Security Assurances
Addressing security concerns, Wike assured residents that Abuja remains among the safest cities in Nigeria. He clarified a recent incident that had caused public anxiety, explaining that it was a quarry-related explosion rather than a terrorist attack.
"I want to emphasize that this incident was industrial in nature, not an act of terrorism. Immediate investigations were conducted, and appropriate safety measures are being reinforced to prevent any recurrence. We are committed to transparent communication and proactive management of public safety concerns," he explained.
The Minister concluded his message by extending his best wishes to all residents for a peaceful celebration.
"On behalf of the FCT Administration, I wish you and your families a joyful, safe, and spiritually fulfilling Eid. May Allah accept our prayers and sacrifices, and may He continue to bless the FCT and our dear nation, Nigeria," Wike said.
