As Muslims worldwide prepare to celebrate the sacred festival of Eid-el-Kabir, Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has extended warm greetings to the Muslim Ummah, Bauchi residents, and all Nigerians.
In a statement released through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, the Governor described the festival as a period of profound spiritual reflection that symbolizes sacrifice, obedience, compassion, and unwavering faith.
Call for Selflessness and Unity
"As we mark this important festival, which symbolizes sacrifice, obedience, compassion, and faith, I urge all citizens to reflect on the virtues of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and imbibe the spirit of selflessness and love for one another," Governor Mohammed stated.
The Governor emphasized that the Sallah season presents an opportunity for residents to promote peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and unity among all citizens, regardless of religious, ethnic, or political differences.
He further highlighted that Bauchi State represents a collective heritage whose development depends on the shared responsibility of its people.
Extending Kindness During Celebrations
"As we celebrate, let us remember to be our brothers' keepers. Let us extend hands of kindness to the less privileged, promote understanding among ourselves, and work together to build a society grounded in justice, equity, and harmony," the Governor added.
The Governor's message comes as Muslims across Nigeria prepare for the festival, which commemorates Prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah's command, before a ram was provided as a replacement.
Eid-el-Kabir, also known as Eid al-Adha or the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of Islam's most significant celebrations and is marked by prayers, family gatherings, and the sharing of meat with family, friends, and those in need.
