A former Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) gubernatorial candidate in the Osun 2022 governorship election, Engr Busuyi Ayowole, has issued a stern warning to President Bola Tinubu regarding the Adeleke family's political maneuvers.
In a statement obtained by BenriNews on Thursday, Ayowole cautioned the President about the family's recent attempts to establish close connections with him, particularly through musician Davido, who is a member of the Adeleke family.
"I want to warn you about the Adeleke's. They've been sending their son, Davido, to meet you in different places in Abuja and probably in Lagos. They've made several attempts to make sure they are able to reach you and have a close-range conversation with you," Ayowole stated.
The former gubernatorial candidate did not mince words in his assessment of the situation, adding, "I would like to advise you, President Tinubu, be careful around the Adeleke's because they're smarter than you."
Allegations of Political Betrayal
Ayowole further alleged that the Adeleke family has a history of betraying political allies, citing examples of Omisore and Adagunodo among others who had supported their rise to power in Osun State.
"Dr. Deji is richer than you. He knows more politics than you, and he's better than you in the art of betrayal," Ayowole claimed, suggesting that the family's ultimate goal is to expand their political influence beyond Osun State to Lagos.
The statement comes in the wake of photos that emerged on Tuesday evening showing Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, his elder brother Dr. Deji Adeleke, and Davido visiting President Tinubu at his Lagos residence.
Concerns Over One-Party State
Ayowole also warned the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against admitting Governor Adeleke into their fold, expressing concern that such a move would effectively turn Osun into a one-party state.
"If the Adelekes are allowed to come into the APC, that means Osun State will become a one-party state—but we won't allow that to happen," he declared.
The visit has sparked significant reactions within political circles. The Osun APC and former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Timothy Owoeye, have already stated that Adeleke is not welcome in the party and that the 2026 governorship ticket is not for sale to the Adeleke family.
In response, Governor Adeleke's spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, issued a statement clarifying that the governor has no plans to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Call for Better Governance
Beyond the political warnings, Ayowole also urged President Tinubu to address the economic challenges facing Nigerians.
"Nigerians are complaining. I will advise you, Mr. President, you need to do more. Nigerians are angry. Nigerians are hungry. A hungry man is an angry man," he stated, emphasizing the need for tangible results rather than mere efforts.
Ayowole also mentioned that he is considering legal action regarding alleged malicious news against his candidacy that surfaced a day before the Osun 2022 governorship election.
